Diesel Truck Mechanic

Full-Time Opportunity

The Truck Shoppe LLC is located in Sacramento, CA. Our shop provides complete maintenance and repair services for large truck fleets as well as small independent fleets operating medium-duty trucks.

Basic Job Description:

Service and repair of all fleet vehicles, including mechanical/electrical diagnosis and performing preventative maintenance (lube, oil change, replace belts, hoses, inspect brakes, repack bearings, check tires, etc.) following company standards. The position may include services including but not limited to the following: Fleet, Trailer, Engine, Suspension, MIG Welding, Inspections, and HVAC.

This position may also require on-call road service repairs using our business owned repair/service truck.

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum of 1 year experience in Heavy/Medium Diesel Truck Repair/Service
  • Strong knowledge of diesel parts, terminology and diagnosis
  • Experience with use of welding and cutting equipment, grinders, jacks, wheel dollies, vices, both air and power tools
  • Must own and provide your own tools. (Specialty tools will be provided for use by the shop)
  • Must provide proof of a valid California Class C Drivers License
  • Strong ability to spot component failure, worn or damaged parts and troubleshoot vehicle systems
  • Ability to interpret shop manuals, use computer and programs required to document work orders
  • Ability to communicate, orally and in writing, effectively with peers, customers and management
  • Ability to work under pressure, handle stressful situations and maintain flexibility while maintaining a positive attitude
  • Ability to read and follow work orders necessary to provide timely and quality services

Working Conditions:

  • Hoist any size vehicle with lift device (vehicle jack) using foot or arm pumping motion
  • Lift and hold parts (weighing up to 50 lbs) in position while lying on back in horizontal position on concrete floor
  • Work in a semi-enclosed structure and outdoors
  • Environment involves chemical handling, gasoline/diesel fumes and intermittent high noise exposure


  • High School diploma or GED required
  • Graduation from a formalized mechanical trade school a plus
  • Class A or Class B Commercial License with exclusion for no air brakes a plus
  • Class A or B must provide a valid DOT medical certificate along with air brake endorsement
  • Legal to work in the United States
